Gautrain commuters will have to wrap their heads around new bus route changes that will be introduced from end of the month.
"In order to effectively cover high-demand routes and improve the efficiency of our bus service, we will be implementing schedule changes. We will also discontinue certain routes from August 31," said Gautrain spokeswoman Barbara Jensen.
The Hatfield station bus route to H6 Queenswood and Pretoria station to P4 Groenkloof will be discontinued due to low usage.
Other changes include a 10-minute interval in certain routes in peak hours and in keeping with the train schedule. The current interval is 12 minutes.
These changes will affect commuters who use the Pretoria CBD's P3 route as well as C1 Techno Park in Centurion. Others are Hyde Park from Rosebank, as well as J1 (Parktown) and J2 (Joburg CBD) from Park station.
Certain routes will be enhanced to be more effective for passengers. They are H3 Arcadia from Hatfield station in order to service the Union Buildings.
The route from Rosebank station to Killarney (RB5) and Midrand station to M3 Sunninghill will be adjusted in order to service the AstroTech Training Centre and the Waterval development respectively.
All routes currently running at 24minute intervals will now be serviced every 20 minutes during peak hours. These are Rosebank to RB5 Killarney and the Rhodesfield to RF2 Emperors Palace, where departure intervals will change from every 12 minutes to every 20 minutes during peak hours.
